
Julie Ellen "Tawny" Kitaen (August 5 1961 - May 7, 2021) was an American actress, model and a media personality. Her career began as a TV actress, appearing in the television films Malibu (1983) as well as California Girls (1985). Also, she starred in Gwendoline in the comedienne film the Land of the Yik-Yak (both 1984) as well as Bachelor Party (1985). Kitaen garnered widespread recognition for her performances in several heavy metal music videos, such as Ratt's "Back for More" (1984) and Whitesnake's "Still of the Night", "Is This Love" and "Here I Go Again" (all 1987).In the decade of 2000, Kitaen transitioned into appearing in reality TV shows, including The Surreal Life (2006) and Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew (2008) and "Here I Go Again," the latter of which focused on Kitaen's struggles with addiction. Julie Kitaen was the youngest of three children, born in San Diego in 1961 to Linda Kitaen (nee Taylor) who was an actress and former beauty pageant contestant and Terry Kitaen who worked for an organization that made neon signs. Kitaen was born to a Russian-Jewish father as well as a Scottish mother. [3] Kitaen was raised within the Jewish faith. She started using the name "Tawny" at the age of 12 on her own initiative. As a child she struggled with dyslexia, which eventually led her dropping out of Mission Bay High School. 7 years old when she first saw Penny Frampton perform in Balboa Stadium. [9]
