Lisa Edelstein (born Lisa Edelstein) is an American actor best known for playing House in Fox's medical drama House. She grew up in Wayne where she was a part of a traditional Jewish tradition. At the age of 18, she emigrated into New York City to study at Tisch School for the Arts. Soon after, she was involved in the club scene, creating enough of a stir to draw the attention of the media. Then she used her experience and fame to write and compose an original musical entitled Positive Me and was also in the show. Soon after, she was offered the job of MTV as host of Awake to the Wild Side. When it ended up going off the air, she began appearing in TV and films at first in small roles but then gradually becoming an actress.
